Email from suicidal man

Submitted by Matthew S on 2006-03-25 23:18:29, Saturday

Agetaboo received the following anonymous message from a 37 yo. Generally, agetaboo is a place to support teens and young adults, but this person needs some support so I thought I'd try to offer it here. There's no way to reply since he did not give an email address, so I'm hoping he reads my response here. First, here's his message:

Submitted March 24, 2006 by Ashamed (37)
Not a week goes by without having suicidal thoughts. I hate myself for who i am. I hate my parents for creating me the way i am. I avoid any contact with children, even people. So many unanswered questions and so many unsathisfying answers. This world doens't deserve me. I don't deserve to live. I honestly don't know how long i can bare to live with these feelings.
At the end.......who will miss me.........no one......

My response:

Dear Ashamed: What you're feeling is what many men who are attracted to boys feel. It's hard to figure out how to live, when it seems everyone is against you. But while the world doesn't realize it, it *would* be worse off without you. Here's why:

You're not a terrible person just because you're attracted to people that society doesn't think you should be. You can be a good and wonderful person just the way you are. I know lots of caring people who are attracted to boys, and who have found fulfilling lives interacting with boys in ways that make their lives better--boys who need attention, someone to talk to, someone to care about them.

Read the personal stories here on this site. Go to some of the discussion boards (find them at www.boylinks.net) where you can start posting and getting support. You can make friends with people there and start emailing them (using anonymous email). Those people can be especially helpful at telling you how they've dealt with life. There is hope for a good life.

Matthew
