This is a good time to bring up something that the staff has been kicking around and we haven't really decided yet. Traditionally, Matthew has encouraged contributors to pick a pseudonym instead of using their real name. He also asks them if possible to use a non-traceable email address. Most emails can easily be traced back to your internet provider and city where you are connecting. With a court order from any small-town judge, the authorities can find out your exact phone number and ISP account. Mostly though the danger is from vigilantes, volunteer save-the-children nuts that will do anything to rid the world of anyone who is not like them. And this is no paranoid thing, they are causing temporary damage to the online boylover community, and are outting less cautious boylovers (who say too much is what they put online).
AgeTaboo has always been a respected online resource for those who wish to educate themselves about our "attractions". We seek to provide legitimate information to the internet world.
We understand the value of finding others like yourself to chat with, but let me assure you there are many thousands online right now who are active in the boylover community. You are not alone!
Getting in contact with others directly, however, presents certain dangers. Assuredly, the vigilantes wish to pretend to be boylovers long enough to get vital information on who you are. You never know who you are talking to. Just because you have this one sexual attraction in common does not mean that you also share basic moral values in other areas. Nor do you know what your new friend keeps stored on his computer and what being part of his "pedophile ring" might drag you into.
AgeTaboo is safe. Our internet host is dedicated to privacy and secrecy. As long as you don't confess specific crimes, don't indicate a willingness to commit crimes in any jurisdiction where this may be viewed, then no one will be able to sweet-talk our provider into releasing information.
Although we get many requests to help hook up site visitors via email, so far we have chosen not to do so. The current policy is to not publish any email address that is not secure, any email address that contains the dreaded "IP number" that is easily traced back to your ISP and home town, in the least case.
This discussion board is available. Feel free to use it lots more than visitors have in the past. Perhaps it's time to add an item to our security section (in the "Issues" area) about this exact problem (how to email others and be safe). When dealing with people online, always consider the source, and always be suspicious of who you are talking to. Be very careful what you say, for you don't really know who may be reading your email or where it is saved on a hard drive.
I don't want to scare you. Talking to someone is wonderfully therapeutic. First step is to realize that you are not alone. Our attractions are common and quite natural.
We also would like to share some boylover links to other sites online, but there are some that are pretty worrisome, from a security or accuracy standpoint. We want to have visitors trust us as only providing scientific truth, and the safest recommendations.
Chatting with others as confused as you are can lead you down the wrong road at times. Other sites are nothing but picture-trading sites. You want a real scare, look at what is considered "child pornography" nowadays. It's not what you think.
